Mahler Mare Relishes Maiden Hurdle Test
A step up in trip proved just the trick for Found On (5m Mahler - Court Gamble, by King’s Theatre), who gained her first win under rules at Leicester on Thursday.
The winner of a four-year-old mares maiden for John Halley last year, the bay went on to finish second in a bumper on her first start for Martin Keighley and was last seen finishing third over hurdles. Stepping up to two and a half miles in the mares’ maiden hurdle, she made all on heavy ground and was asked to quicken approaching the last. Ridden out by James Best, she scored by four and a quarter lengths ahead of the favourite Hunny Moon (Flemensfirth), who finished clear of the rest of the field.
Owned by Oliver Ryan, Found On was bred by Thistletown Stud out of a sister to Grade 2 winner Bold Sir Brian.
