Mahler Mare Saunters Home On Seasonal Return
Monday saw Irish point-to-point winner Wild Polly (6m Mahler - Dalzenia, by Cadoudal) make a winning return to action in the Mares’ Maiden Hurdle at Ayr.
Successful in a Four-Year-Old Mares Maiden at Largy for Ashleigh Murphy, the daughter of Mahler made a promising start for the Rose Dobbin stable in February, when finish third on her hurdle debut. Ridden by Conor O’Farrell on return, the chesnut chased the leaders for much of the two and a half mile contest and began to take closer order from three out. Travelling well to dispute from two out, she was pushed along on the run-in to win by four and a half lengths, as the favourite took second, 28 lengths clear of the field.
Owned by Mr and Mrs Duncan Davidson, Wild Polly was bred by Peter and Des Dundon.
