Mahler Mare Shows Willing Attitude To Land Bumper

Blue Baloo (4f Mahler - Dancing Baloo, by Broken Hearted) built on a promising debut to take the Mares’ Bumper at Newcastle on Boxing Day.

Fourth against geldings earlier this season, Sandy Thomson’s charge was one of 16 to line up for the two mile and one furlong contest. Racing prominently under Ryan Mania, she led on the turn for home and was pushed along from three furlongs out. She was forced to dig deep when challenged soon after, and kept on strongly to prevail by a length and three quarters.

Bred by Stephanie Hanly, the improving mare is out of a half-sister to the great Oscar Whisky (Oscar).
