Mares Complete Maiden Double For Mahler
Fresh Appeal (4m Mahler - Lady Appeal, by Phardante) kickstarted a quick-fire double for Mahler at Boulta when landing the first division of the Four-Year-Old mares Maiden.
Trained by Michelle Duggan for Sean Leahy, who bred the bay with Batt Leahy, Fresh Appeal had finished a promising sixth on debut last month. Once again ridden by Cal Shine, she asserted on the run-in and ran on to win by two lengths, as Humble Glory (Fame And Glory) finished second and Blue Sans (Sans Frontieres) took third.
Fresh Appeal is closely related to Grade 2 winning chaser Fox Appeal and five-time winner Master Appeal.
A thrilling finish to the second division saw John Halley’s Found On (4m Mahler - Court Gamble, by King’s Theatre) share the spoils with Robin Des Smoke, as judges announced a dead heat.
The Thistletown Stud-bred bay was last seen in April, when she made a promising start to her career in finishing fifth at Rathcannon. Her dam is closely related to Bold Sir Brian, a Listed winner over fences and a Grade 2 winner over hurdles.
