Maxios Mare Proves A Class Apart On Second Start
Ucanaver (4f Maxios - Purely By Chance, by Galileo) could not have been more impressive when winning the mares’ bumper at Fontwell on Wednesday.
The daughter of Maxios was making her first start for the Anthony Honeyball stable, after finishing second on debut for Adam West in a race won by Honeyball’s subsequent Listed winner Coquelicot (Soldier Of Fortune). Unseen since February, she was sent off favourite under Aidan Coleman and made all of the running, extending her advantage from over two furlongs out. She sauntered home 20 lengths clear of her ten rivals.
Bred by Lady Jennifer Green, Ucanaver becomes the second bumper winner out of the mare. She hails from the second crop of Maxios, whose first national hunt performers include Grade 3 Fred Winter Hurdle victor Aramax and black-type hurdler Group Stage.
