Some Neck another good one for Yeats
The Willie Mullins-trained Some Neck (7g Yeats-Maternelle, by Machiavellian) came back from a long lay-off to make a brilliant chasing debut at Gowran Park on Saturday.
Carrying the colours of Susannah Ricci, the Yeats gelding powered clear in the closing stages to win the 2m 4f beginners’ chase by six lengths from stablemate Up For Review.
“Some Neck was careful early on but he warmed up nicely. He came alive on me coming down the hill and I knew I would pick them off from the third last. He wants further really,” said winning jockey David Mullins.
“We just thought he might need the run having not raced in a while and it was his first run over fences but he's done it well. He was careful early on but warmed up nicely into it.”
Bred by S C A Dela Perrigne and Elevage Decourteille, Some Neck was sold for €100,000 at the 2014 Goffs Land Rover Sale.
