Newcomers Complete 4YO Maiden Double For Getaway
Grange Stud sire Getaway enjoyed a successful few minutes on Sunday, as his progeny won both the Four-Year-Old Maiden at Tinahely and the mares’ equivalent at Umma House.
Colin Bowe unleashed a smart newcomer in the Tinahely opener in the form of Routine Excellence (4g Getaway - Well Composed), who led at the second last and stayed on well to score by a length and a half. Winning rider Barry O’Neill later revealed that he had always held the Eoghan Loughlin-bred winner in high regard.
Meanwhile, at Umma House, the Denis Murphy-trained Get A Tonic (4m Getaway - Atomic Winner, by Poliglote) made a successful debut under Jamie Codd.
Chasing the leaders for much of the way, the bay improved into second with two fences to jump and led approaching the last, keeping on well to win by three and a half lengths.
