OK Corral looks high-class for Mahler
J P McManus’s OK Corral (7g Mahler-Acoola, by Flemensfirth) looks set to make up for lost time after a sparkling victory at Kempton on Monday.
The son of Mahler, who finished second to Yorkhill in a bumper at the 2015 Punchestown Festival, scored by 12 lengths in a novices’ hurdle on his first start since then.
Trainer Nicky Henderson is looking forward to sending the seven-year-old over fences.
“We were pleased that there wasn't a Yorkhill in that field!,” joked Henderson. “Everyone has been very patient with OK Corral. He's a lovely big horse, he looks a bit like a stretch limo, and we just hope everything will be fine in the morning. There aren't any targets at the moment but he'll have to go chasing sooner rather than later. It's nice to see the engine still works.”
