Options Aplenty For Getaway Mare After Back-To-Back Wins
The progressive Allavina (6m Getaway - One Cool Kate, by Definite Article) backed up last month’s win with an easy victory at Taunton on Tuesday afternoon.
Successful in a bumper last season, the Olly Murphy-trained bay finished fourth in a Listed bumper on return, before claiming second on her hurdle debut and went one better last month. Sent off favourite on her step up to two miles and three furlongs, she tracked the leaders under Aidan Coleman and made progress from three out. Asserting after the second last, she extended her advantage to three lengths by the final flight and scored by six and a half lengths on the line.
Murphy was later very complimentary of his charge, saying, “Allavina is a nice mare, she's got some very strong form. She is a mare to look forward to and hopefully she'll get some black type. I like her a lot. She's in the mares' novice hurdle at Cheltenham, but we might look at other races rather than that this season.”
Owned by C Boultbee-Brooks, Allavina was bred by John O’Riordan and hails from the family of Apache Stronghold (Milan).
