Whosgotyanow (Getaway) Wins The Mares Rated Novice Hurdle At Limerick

Progressive Mares Complete Getaway Treble At Limerick

Whosgotyanow (5m Getaway - Park Athlete, by Supreme Leader) completed the first leg of a treble for Grange Stud sire Getaway when carrying top-weight to success in the Ballyneety Mares Rated Novice Hurdle at Limerick.

Successful on her first start for Andrew Slattery earlier this month, the bay repeated the tried and tested formula of making all under Cathal Landers and was travelling the best approaching the second last. Pushed along to go clear before the final flight, she kept on well to win by four lengths and three quarters.

Speaking after the race, the winning trainer said, “She is a grand honest mare and will continue on for the summer. She'll stay three miles and we'll hopefully nick a bit of black-type.”

Owned by Dr Ronan Tynan, Whosgotanow was bred by Brendan Laffan out of a half-sister to The Listener.

Later on the card, black-type performer The Getaway Star (6m Getaway - Tucacas, by Highest Honor) justified favouritism in the Caherconlish Hurdle under Shane Fitzgerald.

Chasing the leader for much of the way, Declan Queally’s charge was pushed to lead before the second last and raced clear approaching the final hurdle. Ridden out on the run-in, the grey scored by three and a half lengths from Benbulben Boy (Yeats), who drew 17 lengths clear of the third.

Owned by Michael O’Callaghan and bred by John Harvey, The Getaway Star finished second in a Grade 3 hurdle last season and first earned black-type in a Listed bumper

Forgetthesurprise (7m Getaway - Udontno, by Oscar) completed a treble for her sire when running out an easy winner of the three mile hurdle under owner Aine O’Connor.

Trained by Niall Madden and bred by Mrs Madden, Forgetthesurprise was defying a 12 pound rise since her win at Navan last month. Also successful in a bumper, the daughter of Getaway is now due a step up in class.
