Progressive Son Of Getaway Doubles Up In Style
Connections are considering a step up in class for Quirt Evans (6g Getaway - Mae Mobley, by Saffron Walden) after the David O’Brien-trained bay completed back-to-back wins in the Rated Novice Hurdle at Tramore.
A six length winner at the track last month, the Aidan Fogarty-owned six-year-old was sent off favourite under Jack Foley and chased the leaders for much of the way. Making smooth headway from three out, he was ridden clear approaching the final flight and kept on well to score by a length and a half.
Speaking after the race, the winning trainer said, “He is improving away the whole time. I will up him in grade and see if he can make it up another step.”
Placed in both his bumpers and on his sole start between the flags, Quirt Evans is the best performer bred by Elizabeth Kennedy out of Mae Mobley.
