Promising Son Of Getaway Lands Novices Hurdle
The Dan Skelton-trained Get Up Mush (5g Getaway - Steel Lady, by Gamut) built on a promising rules debut to win Saturday’s Novices’ Hurdle at Wetherby.
The son of Getaway joined Skelton after finishing third at Lisronagh on his sole start for Cormac Doyle. Third to a subsequent Grade 2 winner on his hurdle bow, the bay was sent off favourite at the weekend and was held up at the back of the field by Harry Skelton. Improving to chase the leader from halfway, he led at the second last and was ridden approaching the final flight, keeping on well to score by a length and three quarters.
There should be more to come from Get Up Mush, who is owned by Michael Ariss. He was bred by the Cedars Stud, who sold a half-brother by Milan for €72,000 at last year’s Goffs Land Rover Sale.
