Promising Son Of Mahler Delivers Over Hurdles
Monday saw the Nicky Henderson-trained Attacca (4g Mahler - Listening, by King’s Theatre) justify favouritism on his first start over hurdles at Kempton.
A promising second in a bumper on his sole previous start, the Mrs Patricia Pugh-owned bay was partnered by Nico de Boinville on his seasonal return. He raced prominently throughout the two mile contest and was pushed along to lead at the second last. Ridden when challenged at the final flight, he kept on well to score by a length from previous hurdle winner Alien Storm (Getaway), with the pair finishing clear of the field.
Bred by Mrs Mary McCann, Attacca is a half-brother to two winners by Getaway.
