Whymper (Maxios) Wins The Listed Chase At Compiegne

Promising Son Of Maxios Captures Listed Chase

Whymper (3g Maxios - Wurfspiel, by Lomitas) produced a fine round of jumping to take the Listed Prix Roger De Minvielle at Compiegne on Wednesday.

Hector de Lageneste and Guillaume Macaire’s charge was ridden positively by Baptiste Le Clerc and leapt into the lead, ears pricked, before halfway. Picking up the pace from three out, he had his rivals under pressure before the next and was ridden from the final fence. Digging deep on the run-in, he denied Whiplash Du Mathan by a neck on the line, with the pair finishing three and a half lengths clear of the third.

A debut winner of hurdles in March, Whymper placed on his first three starts over fences at Class 2 level and was last seen finished fourth in a Listed chase. Bred by Gestut Fahrhof, the son of Maxios is owned by Ecurie Hugo et Pierre Pilarski with Palmyr Racing and Jeannot Andt.
