Promising Son Of Walk In The Park Delivers On Return

The well-related Firm Footings (4g Walk In The Park - Tempest Belle, by Glacial Storm) confirmed himself a smart prospect when winning Saturday’s bumper at Galway.

The Gordon Elliott-trained bay finished a promising third on debut in April and was sent off favourite on return, with the ground described as soft to heavy. Ridden prominently by Jamie Codd, he produced a challenge two furlongs from home and was soon ridden to lead. Keeping on well, he won by a length and a quarter from Soldante (Soldier Of Fortune), who finished 14 lengths clear of the field.

“Firm Footings is a nice horse,” Elliott commented after the race. “He's a real galloper and could be one for a graded hurdle in the Spring.”

Firm Footings is owned by Andy and Gemma Brown’s Caldwell Construction Ltd, having bought him as a store for €220,000. Bred by Aidan Aherne and Cathal Ennis, the son of Walk In The Park is a half-brother to Grade 1 winning chaser Monalee (Milan).
