Sister To Jezki Proves Popular At Tattersalls Ireland
Bumper winner Jelan (Milan) may not have reached the same heights as full-brother Jezki (Milan) on the track, but she enjoyed her own moment in the spotlight on Monday, when selling for €85,000 at Tattersalls Ireland.
Jayne McGivern signed for the eight-year-old offered in foal to Grange Stud resident Getaway, who was offered by Ballintry Stud as part of a dispersal by owner/breeder Gerard McGrath.
McGivern will be hoping Jelan becomes as accomplished as her dam La Noire, who has produced five Graded winners; most notably multiple Grade 1 winner Jezki (Milan). Her daughter Miss Squiff produced Grade 1 performer Jetz (Flemensfirth) and Grade 2 runner-up Jetez (Getaway).
Jelan has already produced two foals; both daughters of Walk In The Park, and her future produce by Getaway will be bred on the same cross as Grade 3 winner Talkischeap (Getaway).
A Getaway colt proved one of the most popular foals offered on the final day of the November NH Sale, with Ian Ferguson going to €65,000 for Lot 753 from Simmonstown Stud. He is the first foal out of Simonia (Yeats), herself a half-sister to dual Grade 1 winner Simonsig and promising novice hurdler Dusart (Flemensfirth), which was of particular appeal to Ferguson.
“The family has been lucky for me so I was interested in him,” he explained. “Simonsig won two points and a bumper for me and I had Dusart before he went over to Nicky Henderson’s yard. He won his novice hurdle and is entered in the Grade 2 at Ascot on Friday, so they like what they are seeing over there. I had to pay a bit of money for him but I am delighted to have got him.”
