Fortunedefortunata (5g Soldier Of Fortune - Glenda King, by King’s Theatre) kept on strongly to make a winning debut in Wednesday’s Novices’ Hurdle at Ludlow.

David Bridgewater’s charge was the sole newcomer in the 15-strong field and was ridden to chase the leaders for much of the way under Brendan Powell. Shaken up at the second last, he produced his challenge at the final flight and ran on well to score by three and a quarter lengths.

Fortunedefortunata is owned by Claudio Michael Grech and was purchased by Aiden Murphy as a foal for €55,000. The son of Soldier Of Fortune was bred by Jack Bennett and provides an important update for his two-year-old full-brother.
