Smart Mare Completes Double For Getaway

Endless Escape (6m Getaway - Endless Wave, by Poliglote) made it two from two under rules with a wide margin victory in the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle at Wincanton.

Placed between the flags for Donnchadh Doyle, she made a smart start for Ben Clarke last month, when running out a seven length winner against geldings. Reunited with Ben Jones on Monday, she raced prominently throughout and led on the turn for home. Clear at the penultimate flight, she was shaken up from last, before being eased down to win by 22 lengths.

Bred by Maurice Smiddy, Endless Escape completed a double on the day for Getaway, with Supreme Gift (5g Getaway - Prairie Call, by Oscar) having earlier won the Novices’ Hurdle at Huntingdon.

Henry Daly’s charge made a winning hurdle debut on his seasonal return and was well-supported on Monday, with Alice Stevens taking the ride. Racing in midfield, the bay was ridden to track the leaders from three out and led before the next. Keeping on well on the run-in, he was ridden out to score by three lengths and three quarters.

Endless Escape won a four-year-old maiden for Denis Murphy and is now owned by Sir T Pilkington and RA Pilkington. Subsequently placed in three bumpers, the son of Getaway was bred by Imelda Harney.
