Smart Son Of Getaway Races Clear In Maiden Hurdle

Dual bumper winner Ultimate Getaway (7g Getaway - Ultimate Echo, by Gamut) added a win over hurdles to his CV when running out a clear winner at Worcester on Saturday.

Fergal O’Brien’s charged finished a promising fourth on return to action last month and was reunited with Paddy Brennan as he dropped back to two and a half miles. Tracking the leaders for much of the way, the bay led after the third last and was shaken up approaching the final flight, running on strongly to win by eight lengths.

Owned by Foxtrot Racing, Ultimate Getaway is a half-brother to Ultimate Fame (Fame And Glory), who won a bumper on debut last month. Bred by William Delaney, they have siblings by Walk In The Park and Soldier Of Fortune to follow.
