Smart Son Of Mahler Delivers On Rules Debut

Check The Score (5g Mahler - Summer Again, by Scorpion) followed up on his impressive point-to-point win with a successful rules debut in Thursday’s bumper at Warwick.

The son of Mahler was bought by Craig and Laura Buckingham after winning his second start for Rob James by nine lengths at Kirkistown, and was ridden by Paddy Brenan on his first start for Fergal O’Brien. Positioned in midfield, the bay made steady headway from five furlongs out and was ridden behind the leaders two furlongs from home. Keeping on well inside the final furlong, he led by three parts of a length on the line.

Check The Score was bred by Mrs Riona Molony out of Summer Again, whose Milan gelding was bought by Monbeg Stables at last year’s store sales.
