Smart Son Of Maxios Follows Up On Hurdle Debut
Dee Capo (4g Maxios - Walkure, by Nathaniel) followed up last month’s impressive bumper win with a successful start over hurdles at Cork on Sunday.
The €230,000 store sale purchase drew eight and a half lengths clear at Galway last time out and was sent off favourite to double up in the two mile maiden hurdle. Racing prominently under Jack Kennedy, he led approaching the third last and boasted a clear advantage by the final flight. Eased down close home, he led by six lengths on the line.
“Dee Capo did it well and jumped great,” the winning rider said. “I'd say whatever he does over hurdles will be a bonus, he's a chaser in the making. He loved that ground and in a better race, he'll be a better horse again. He's a nice one going forward.”
Bred by Haras de la Perelle, the son of Maxios is trained by Gordon Elliott for David L’Estrange.
