Smart Son Of Walk In The Park Wins Novices Hurdle
Smart bumper horse Blow Your Wad (4g Walk In The Park - Molly’s Mate, by Goldmark) gained a deserved maiden victory in Monday’s Novices’ Hurdle at Kempton.
Tom Lacey’s charge claimed runners-up honours on his first two starts in bumpers, before finishing a fine fourth in a Grade 2 at Aintree and returned last month to take second on hurdle debut at Ascot. Sent off favourite to go one better under Stan Sheppard, he was travelling well when pressing the leader at the second last. Soon pushed along, he led at the final flight and kept on well to win by a length, with another 16 lengths back to his nearest rival.
Blow Your Wad is owned by Jerry Hinds and Ashley Head, who paid €70,000 for the son of Walk In The Park as a store. Bred by Minch Bloodstock out of a half-sister to Faugheen, he has a half-brother by Soldier Of Fortune catalogued in the upcoming Goffs December NH Sale.
