Son Of Getaway Adds Novice Hurdle Win To Fine Record

Fire Away (8g Getaway - Joan’s Girl, by Supreme Leader) continued a terrific run when justifying favouritism in Monday’s Novices’ Hurdle at Worcester.

Successful on his first three starts for Laura Morgan, the bay claimed runners-up honours on his next two starts and was last seen scoring over fences. Sent off favourite on his return to hurdles, he was held up by Adam Wedge and made smooth headway along the back straight. Producing a strong challenge at the third last, he led at the penultimate flight and was pushed out to win by six and a half lengths from Ultimate Getaway (Getaway), who finished 18 lengths clear of the field.

Speaking after the race, the winning trainer said, “This was always the plan to come here and then go to the Summer Plate at Market Rasen. He'll have a great chance.”

Bred by Brian Moran, Fire Away gained his first win in a bumper in his native Ireland.
