Son Of Getaway Battles For Novice Hurdle Win

Butterwick Brook (5g Getaway - Sheriussa, by Shernazar) showed a determined attitude when rallying to win Saturday’s Novices’ Hurdle at Taunton.

A promising third last time out at Ascot, he was sent off second favourite as he dropped back in trip to two miles and three furlongs. Jonjo O’Neill Junior rode him to track the leaders, improving to lead from two out and was ridden as the favourite Shang Tang produced his challenge after the final flight. Battling back under pressure, Butterwick Brook prevailed by a head on the line, the pair finishing seven lengths clear of the third.

Trained by Colin Tizzard for the Butterwick Syndicate, the son of Grange Stud sire Getaway was bred by William and Patricia Doyle. He becomes the first winner for his dam and provides a nice update for three-year-old half-brother by Leading Light.
