Son Of Getaway Comes Up Trumps At Ayr

Getaway Trump (6g Getaway - Acinorev, by Cape Cross) ran out an easy winner of the Novices’ Championship Hurdle Qualifier at Ayr on Friday.

The Paul Nicholls-trained six-year-old shared top weight with the Irish raider and favourite Galvin as five lined up for the two mile contest. Chasing the leader under Harry Cobden, the bay jumped well throughout and led from the third last, quickening clear to win by six lengths.

Friday marked a third win over hurdles for Getaway Trump, who also finished second to Champ in the Grade 1 Challow Novices’ Hurdle in December. His first career victory came between the flags, when winning impressively at Lisronagh for Vincent Halley. The E.M. O’Sullivan-bred bay subsequently sold to Tom Malone and Paul Nicholls for £90,000.
