Son Of Getaway Cruises Home In Maiden Hurdle
Deploy The Getaway (7g Getaway - Gaelic River, by Deploy) lived up to expectations on Tuesday when running out an impressive winner of the maiden hurdle at Down Royal.
Ridden to make all by Paul Townend, the Willie Mullins-trained bay travelled strongly throughout and looked the likely winner from two out. Extending his advantage approaching the final flight, he justified favouritism by all of 18 lengths.
“He couldn't have done that any better,” Townend said after the race. “He is starting to show us what he can show us at home and we are learning about him.”
Placed on both his previous starts over hurdles, Deploy The Getaway is expected to be seen to best effect over fences, having bolted up by 20 lengths in a Tallow maiden for Donnchadh Doyle. The JPN Parker-bred son of Getaway was subsequently purchased by Cheveley Park Stud for £200,000.
