Son Of Getaway Excites Over Fences

Tuesday saw the Alan King-trained Rebel Royal (6g Getaway - Molly Duffy, by Oscar) make an impressive chase debut over two and a half miles at Huntingdon.

The novice hurdle winner was having his first start since May, with Tom Cannon settling him in midfield for much of the way. Travelling strongly when taking the lead two from home, he went clear approaching the final fence and stayed on well to win by eight lengths.

The promising chaser was bred by Kenneth Parkhill, whose Castletown Quarry Stud sold him as a store for €45,000 to Ryan Mahon. Owned by Jerry Wright, Martin Walker and Tony Hughes, he is a half-brother to the useful Monbeg Worldwide.
