Son Of Getaway Not For Catching In Bumper
Kepagge (5g Getaway - Miracle Lady, by Bob’s Return) made all to win his rules debut in Wednesday’s bumper at Chepstow.
Leading under Tom Scudamore, the bay drew eight lengths clear with three furlongs left to race and was ridden from the two pole. Gustavian (Mahler) reduced his advantage in the final furlong, but Kepagge was always in command and won by four lengths, the field strung out behind them.
Kepagge was purchased privately after his sole start in a point-to-point in February and is now trained by David Pipe for owner Mrs Sarah Ling. The son of Getaway was bred by Gareth Adair and is a half-brother to multiple winners Catching On (Milan) and Streets Of Promise (Westerner).
