Son Of Getaway Plays Leading Role At Cheltenham Sale
Impressive debut winner Weveallbeencaught (5g Getaway - Curvacious, by Anshan) will continue his career with Nigel Twiston-Davies after topping the Tattersalls Cheltenham January Sale at £210,000.
The son of Getaway will carry the silks of owner Jimmy Wenman, who said, “I think he’s the best horse in the sale, an absolute film star of a horse. He’s an out and out stayer and I’ve given him to a top-class trainer in Nigel Twiston-Davies, who specialises in top-class chasers. One day, please God, he will come up the Cheltenham hill for me.”
Saturday represented a terrific result for owner/breeder Conor Murphy and handler Michael Kennedey, with the latter commenting, “He’s a smasher, we broke him in and brought him along nicely and we were hoping he’d sell well.”
Weveallbeencaught’s debut win came in a four-year-old maiden at Dromahane last month, and so taking was his performance that the runner-up Supreme Commander (Fame And Glory) fetched £120,000 on the night.
Getaway currently leads the sire leaderboard for the Irish point-to-point season at 12 winners, among them impressive Loughanmore heroine Smiling Getaway (Getaway), who subsequently sold for £235,000 in November.
