The Lucinda Russell-trained Rowdy Rustler (7g Getaway - Posh Posy, by Kadeed) made a successful step up in trip to land Tuesday’s maiden hurdle at Newcastle.

An impressive winner of his point-to-point for Bernadette Murphy, the son of Getaway finished a promising second in a maiden hurdle for new connections in December. Stepping up to two and a half miles on Tuesday, he was sent off second favourite under Derek Fox, who rode the bay to make all. Quickening from three out, he was ridden approaching the final flight and kept on well to score by a length.
