Son Of Getaway Races Clear On Hurdle Debut
The Donald McCain-trained Away At Dawn (5g Getaway - Wings At Dawn, by Winged Love) made a smart start to his hurdle career in Wednesday’s Novice Hurdle at Bangor.
Brian Hughes rode the bay to make all, asking him to quicken from two out and soon went clear, scoring by seven and a half lengths on the line. It marked a first career success for Away At Dawn, who finished third in a bumper and second in a point-to-point, from all his starts.
Owned by G.E. Fitzpatrick and bred by Cyril Carty, the son of Getaway becomes the first winner out of the unraced mare Wings At Dawn.
