Killer Clown (Getaway) Wins The Novices Handicap Chase At Kempton

Son Of Getaway Races Clear To Kempton Chase Success

Killer Clown (6g Getaway - Our Soiree, by Milan) produced a fine round of jumping to win Saturday’s Novices’ Handicap Chase at Kempton in comfortable fashion.

Ridden to chase the leaders by Adam Wedge, Emma Lavelle’s charge led from four out and went four lengths clear from the second last. Keeping on strongly on the run-in, the bay scored by seven and a half lengths, with another 16 lengths back to the third.

Wedge was impressed by the winner and later commented, “I think the flat track and two and a half has done Killer Clown the world of good today, his jumping's just got so good he's jumped them into the ground down the back straight so I could fill him turning in and he's done it very well. He's improved with every run, which is lovely to see, and hopefully there's more to come.”

Now owned by Tim Syder, Killer Clown was bought by Gerry Hogan for £135,000 after winning his point-to-point debut for Colin Bowe. The son of Grange Stud sire Getaway was bred by Kevin Cullen out of a half-sister to multiple Graded chase winner Watson Lake.
