Son Of Mahler Delivers On Debut
Come On Gruff (5g Mahler - Annie Grit, by Bach) stayed on strongly to make a winning debut in Monday’s maiden bumper at Lingfield.
Racing over two miles, the Tom George-trained bay was held up at the back of the field of Jonathan Burke and was shaken up with three furlongs left to race. Chasing down the leaders approaching the final furlong, he kept on strongly to lead in the final strides and won by a head on the line.
Owned by NT Griffith and HM Haddock, Come On Gruff was bred by Anne and Mary Mellerick. The son of Mahler is the first foal out of Annie Grit, herself a half-sister to dual Graded winner She’s Got Grit (Flemensfirth).
