Broughshane (Mahler) Makes A Winning Debut At Kirkistown

Son Of Mahler Impresses In Kirkistown Maiden

Broughshane (4g Mahler - Shuil Milan, by Milan) emerged as an exciting prospect on Saturday when running out an impressive winner of the four-year-old maiden at Kirkistown.

Trained by Gerald Quinn for PJ McBurney, the newcomer was tracked the leader under Noel McParlan and improved to lead from halfway. Travelling well with two fences left to jump, he extended his advantage approaching the final fence and kept on well to win by eight lengths, as Copshill Lad (Kingston Hill) did his best to narrow the gap.

Bred by Michael Murphy, Broughshane completed the first leg of a double on the day for Beeches Stud sire Mahler, with Ballymore hopeful Journey With Me (Mahler) later extending his unbeaten record at Naas.
