Son Of Mahler Makes Perfect Debut At Chepstow
Marco Island (4g Mahler - Florida Belle, by Florida Son) shaped with plenty of promise when making a winning debut in Saturday’s bumper at Chepstow.
Sean Houlihan positioned Anthony Honeyball’s charge in midfield, asking him to quicken from three furlongs out and improved to lead approaching the final furlong. Staying on well under pressure, he scored by two and a quarter lengths, with another four and a quarter lengths back to his well-supported stablemate in third.
Owned by Buckingham, Chapman, Langford and Ritzema, Marco Island was bred by Michael Walsh. The son of Mahler becomes the first winner out of the mare Florida Belle, herself a winning half-sister to black-type chaser Life Of A Luso.
