Son Of Mahler Makes Successful Start Over Hurdles

Saturday’s maiden hurdle at Kelso saw Do Not Disturb (6g Mahler - Galbertstown Run, by Oscar) reel in the favourite to make a winning start to his hurdle career.

A promising third on his sole point-to-point start Aidan Fitzgerald, he was subsequently bought by Gerry Hogan and trainer Rose Dobbin for £85,000. Unseen since his run in a bumper last November, Clive Nichol rode him to track the leaders and improved to take second at the fourth last flight. Ridden to challenge approaching the second last, he led at the final furlong and was driven out to beat the favourite and long-time leader Pogue by a length and three quarters.

Dobbin, who trains the winner for Mr and Mrs Duncan Davidson, later commented, “I'm so chuffed with that, I'd have been gutted if Do Not Disturb hadn't run well as I love him. He had a run in a bumper then the yard had problems and he couldn't run again.”

Bred by Bill Flanagan, Do Not Disturb becomes the first winner out of the mare.
