Get Out The Gate Wins His Chase Debut

Son Of Mahler Makes Winning Start To Chase Career

Talented hurdler Get Out The Gate (6g Mahler - Chartani, by King’s Theatre) made a fine start to his chasing career when taking the three mile Beginners Chase at Ayr on Tuesday.

Trained by Jim Goldie for Jim Fyffe and Stacey McQueen, the bay gained black-type over hurdles, but faced a formidable opponent on his first start over fences in the shape of the favourite, the Grade 2 placed Commodore Barry.

Callum Bewley rode Get Out The Gate to track his main rival in second and asked his mount to improve at the second last, improving to challenge at the final fence and was driven out to beat the favourite by a neck, with all of 45 lengths back to the third horse.

Get Out The Gate’s talent over fences does not come as a surprise, with the Michelle Claire Aherne-bred bay having won his sole point-to-point by six lengths at Dawstown for James Doyle.
