Son Of Mahler Proves A Class Apart At Kempton
Short-priced favourite Earth Lord (6g Mahler - Glebe Beauty, by Good Thyne) drew clear to record his third success over hurdles in Saturday’s Novices’ Hurdle at Kempton.
The Philip Hobbs-trained chesnut made all for the first time under Tom O’Brien and began to extend his advantage from three out. Eased down close home, he won by all of 24 lengths.
Speaking after the race, the winning trainer said, “Earth Lord looked a nice horse last season and benefited from the summer off. He's done that well and I'd imagine we'll go chasing next season, but he'll run again this season.”
Owned by RM Penny and bred by James Leahy, the son of Mahler began the season with back-to-back wins. He is a full-brother to multiple Graded winner Sutton Place (Mahler).
