Rossbeigh Strand (5g Mahler - Could Do, by Cloudings) thoroughly impressed when making all to win the Five-Year-Old Maiden at Aghabullogue on Sunday.
Trained by David Harry Kelly for Sean Ronan, the bay jumped well throughout under James Hannon and extended his advantage to four lengths from the second last. Racing clear, he won by 14 lengths with minimum fuss.
The son of Beeches Stud sire Mahler was bred by Thomas Keating and becomes the first winner out of the mare Could Do. Herself a winner over hurdles, she comes from the family of Grade 1 winners Alexander Taipan and Anzum.
