Son Of Mahler Rallies For First Hurdle Win
The lightly-raced First Touch (9g Mahler - Killesk Scribe, by Scribano) made it second time lucky for Liam Burke when landing Tuesday’s maiden hurdle at Clonmel.
Having suffered a four year absence earlier in his career, the son of Mahler won a maiden at Dromahane last October and switched stables in March. Stepping up to two miles and two furlongs on Tuesday, he raced in midfield under Donal McInerney and was ridden to make headway approaching two out. Soon in front, he kept on well to deny More Wine Lilly (Flemensfirth) by half a length on the line.
Owned by David Murphy and bred by Michael Jackson, First Touch comes from the family of Hi Cloy.
