Son Of Mahler Scores On Debut For Family Duo

Brothers Derek and Pauric O’Connor combined to take Saturday’s five-year-old maiden at Lisronagh with promising newcomer Powerful Position (5g Mahler - Molly Con, by Presenting).

Ten lined up for the contest, with the eventual winner held up towards the back of the field and began to make good headway from three out. Disputing from the second last, the bay soon asserted and kept on well from the final fence to score by four lengths.

Connections will be hoping Powerful Position’s winning debut will attract strong interest at the upcoming Goffs UK November Sale. The son of Mahler was bred by John Mounsey out of a half-sister to black-type hurdler Quaddick Lake.
