Long Symphony (Mahler) Wins The Bumper At Wetherby

Son Of Mahler Takes The Bumper On Return

Saturday saw Long Symphony (6g Mahler - Ashlings Princess, by Salford Express) make a winning return to action in the bumper at Wetherby.

Laura Horsfall’s charge was ridden by Charlie Price on his return from a lay-off and raced prominently throughout the two mile contest. Asserting from before halfway, he was ridden when challenged approaching the final furlong and kept on well to win by a length and a quarter. Promising newcomer Paddy O’Mahler (Mahler) finished a close third.

“He's a good work horse but I thought he'd need it a bit,” the winning trainer later commented. “He's a big horse who's taken a long time to grow into his frame, but he has got ability.”

Long Symphony was bred by John Kelleher and provides a nice update for his yearling full-brother.
