Son Of Maxios Bounces Back To Land Beginners Chase
Useful hurdler Aramax (5g Maxios - Aramina, by In The Wings) gained a first win over fences when running out a comfortable winner of Saturday’s Beginners Chase at Fairyhouse.
The Fred Winter hurdle winner raced in midfield for much of the two mile and one furlong contest and took closer order from three out, with Keith Donoghue asking him to challenge approaching the second last. Leading from the final fence, he ran on well on the run-in to beat the favourite Port Stanley by two and a half lengths, with the pair drawing well clear of the field.
Owned by JP McManus and bred by Gestut Rottgen, Aramax hails from the second crop of Maxios, who proved extremely popular in his first season at Castlehyde Stud in 2020.
