Son Of Maxios Gains Back To Back Wins Over Hurdles

Impressive maiden hurdle winner Ecco (4g Maxios - Enjoy The Life, by Medicean) followed up in Saturday’s two mile Novice Hurdle at Ascot.

An eight length winner over the same distance last month, he has clearly always been held in high esteem by Paul Nicholls, who pitched him at Grade 1 level last season. Sent off favourite despite a penalty, he was ridden to track the leader by Bryony Frost and asserted as they turned for home. Ridden clear approaching the final flight, he won by six lengths in comfortable fashion.

Bred by Stiftung Gestut Fahrhof, Ecco was purchased privately after winning on the flat in Germany and now carries the colours of Colm Donlon. The son of Maxios is a half-brother to German Derby second Enjoy Vijay, bred out of a Listed winner.
