Son Of Maxios Makes Exciting Debut Over Hurdles

The Francois Nicolle-trained Quilixios (3g Maxios – Quilita, by Lomitas) appears to have a bright future ahead of him, judging by his impressive debut at Compiegne on Monday.

Prize money of €50,000 attracted 11 newcomers for the Prix D’Essai Des Poulains, a hurdle contest run over two miles. Paul Moreau rode the eventual winner in mid-field for much of the way, improving into third upon entering the straight and was pushed out from the second last. Asserting at the final flight, he ran on strongly on the run-in to win by 12 lengths, with a further 18 lengths back to the third horse.

Owned by Edouard Monforth, Patrice Detre, Regis Pere and the Bridge Consignment Ltd, Quilixios was bred by Gestut Fahrhof. A son of talented Group performer Quilita, he continues a promising start in the national hunt sphere by the progeny of Maxios. The son of Monsun now stands at Castlehyde Stud for a fee of €6,000.
