Son Of Maxios Scores Over Hurdles At Far Hills
Global Freedom (3g Maxios - Modesty’s Way, by Giant’s Causeway) made a winning start for his new owners when taking the Gladstone Hurdle Stakes on the American Grand National undercard at Far Hills.
Robbie Power donned the silks of leading US national hunt owners Rosbrian Farm and rode the Gordon Elliott-trained bay in a prominent position. Producing a challenge after the second last, he led at the final flight. Driven out, he won by two lengths and three quarters from the favourite Must See The Doc.
Placed on his first two starts over hurdles in August, Global Freedom was purchased privately by the Elliott stable following a flat career with Ed Dunlop and Johnny Hon, who purchased the Niarchos Family-bred horse as a yearling for €130,000.
Maxios joins the Coolmore national hunt roster at Castlehyde Stud for the 2020 breeding season, having previously filled a flat role in Germany, with his first crop now four-year-olds. Among his promising prospects over hurdles are dual winners Construct and Star Max, as well as Paul Nicholls-trained Ecco, who won his maiden hurdle in impressive fashion last week.
