Son Of Walk In The Park Bolts Up In Maiden Hurdle
Gold In The Rivers (5g Walk In The Park – Aulne River, by River Mist) drew clear to get off the mark in Sunday’s maiden hurdle at Limerick.
Runner-up at Leopardstown last time out, Gordon Elliott’s charge was sent off second favourite for the two mile and three furlong contest. Racing prominently under Jack Kennedy, he asserted from two out and was shaken up to race clear approaching the final flight. Running on well on the run-in, he needed little encouragement to win by 15 lengths.
Speaking after the race, the winning rider said, “Gold In The Rivers is a lovely horse. He did what we thought he could have done all along. The looser ground helped him as tacky ground had been catching him.”
The €220,000 store sale buy was bred by Michael Whitty out of Aulne River, who has a four-year-old full-sister to the winner.
