Son Of Walk In The Park Brings £300,000 At Cheltenham
The exciting Shannon Royale (4g Walk In The Park - Shannon Rose) proved one of the highlights of the Tattersalls Cheltenham February Sale when selling to Mags O’Toole for £300,000.
The son of Walk In The Park was a brave store purchase by Denis Murphy’s Ballyboy Stables, though his €100,000 price tag looks well-spent after Friday’s sale. In the interim, he finished a promising second on debut in a Comea maiden, where the first two home drew 12 lengths clear of the field.
After revealing that Shannon Royale will be trained by Gordon Elliott, O’Toole said, “The sire is on fire and he had a lovely run against the top lot here. I loved the way the winner and this horse got away from the others at Comea, they quickened well, and he is only four. He’s gorgeous, has a lovely head on him, and was always going to make a lot of money.”
Murphy was similarly complimentary, saying, “He’s a gorgeous, big horse who should have a big future. He was the pick of the paddock when I bought him and he’s been an easy horse to train.”
