Son Of Walk In The Park Delivers On Hurdle Bow

Sportinthepark (4g Walk In The Park - Miss Oscartea, by Oscar) made a perfect switch to hurdles in Friday’s maiden hurdle at Wexford.

The son of Walk In The Park sold to Noel Meade and Peter Nolan for €170,000 following his close second on debut for Matthew Flynn O’Connor and now carries the colours of PL Polly. Racing over two and a half miles on Friday, the bay was ridden prominently by Sam Ewing and was travelling best when leading before the second last. Ridden clear soon after, he was pushed out on the run-in to win by two lengths and three quarters from Iceberg Theory (Flemensfirth).

“He loved the ground and the step up to two-and-a-half helped him a lot,” Ewing said. “It looked like he jumped very well in his point-to-point and it stood to him today.”

Sportinthepark was bred by Cathal Ennis out of Miss Oscarteea, who has a two-year-old colt by Getaway.
