Son Of Walk In The Park Tops Day 2 At Goffs

Grange Stud sire Walk In The Park supplied the highest-priced horse of the second day of the Goffs Land Rover Sale, when the half-brother to Monalee (Milan) was sold for €220,000.

After seeing off a determined effort by Tom Malone, Joey Logan confirmed he had purchased the bay on behalf of owners Andy and Gemma Brown, who have horses in training with Gordon Elliott. “We saw him on the farm and were mad about him,” Logan later explained. “He's a very well-related horse and one of the best Walk in The Park's that I've seen.”

Offered by Richard Frisby’s Glenwood Stud, Lot 249 returned a handsome profit on his foal price of €68,000. Pinhookers of his two-year-old and yearling full-brothers will be dreaming of the same outcome at future store sales.

Oak Tree Farm was another consignor to enjoy a fine return when their son of Walk In The Park was knocked down to Michael Shefflin and Paul Holden for €140,000. A €60,000 foal buy, Lot 316 is out of the Graded-placed Alpine Glade (Oscar), herself an own-sister to Rock On Ruby (Oscar).

Mags O’Toole later went to €100,000 for the Ballincurrig House Stud-consigned Walk In The Park gelding out of an own-sister to Defy Logic (Flemensfirth).

Daughters of the Grange Stud sire were also in demand, led by Broad Meadow Stables’ filly out of Aure Antique (Lot 328), for which Ray Fitzgerald and Philip Dempsey parted with €100,000. Henry De Bromhead also came away with a Walk In The Park filly, after going to €78,000 for Coolruss Stud’s relation to Lyreen Legend and Goliath Du Berlais.
